I was curious about how well the Doujinshis actually sell in Japan. I assume the super popular ones like NaPaTa would be quite well off but do they make a comfortable living by creating Hentai?
You have to visit doujinshi and H-manga store in Japan once, especially one that not in Akihabara which stand alone with no competitors around will crowded with both men and women. eg. toranoana in Shinjuku.
I'm not sure how well they sell but they often seem to be sold at major conventions such as Comiket. Many artists speific create new manga/doujinshi with the intention of selling it there.
