[Frage] Which video quality you choose to watch a series? Why?

I've watched some shows on really degraded VHSes, so I can tolerate watching even on a potato. Of course, having something better than that would definitely be a plus.

Bit of a snob, for a few years now I exclusively get the highest resolution hevc and av1 encodes I can find.

That depends, I always compare the releases to get the best possible ones and that depends on more things than resolution. Since i like to watch old stuff that has never been that popular, most are just 480p8bits DVD rips in x264 or random obsolete ancient codecs lol hardly ever any decent upscales cause old ones kill so much detail.

i prefer 720p with high bitrates and x264. but if there is no other choice, 480p or 1080p doesn't bother me either.
