Tomohisa Yamashita and other cast members participated in a
stage greeting for the upcoming live action film, Ashita no Joe at
the Toho Cinemas in Roppongi Hills. The movie is based on the boxing
manga created by Asao Takamori and Tetsuya Chiba in 1968.
During the event, distributor Toho announced that the Ashita no Joe live action
movie is set to be released outside Japan! Nine different countries will be lucky
enough to have the chance to see this live-action adaptation of this popular sports
The Ashita no Joe film will be released on March 18 in Taiwan while the others
have not yet been decided. But most likely, it will be scheduled sometime
during March, when Yamashita will already be traveling around Asia for the rest of his solo tour.

Set in the 1960's, Joe Yabuki (Tomohisa Yamashita) lives in a run
low income ara. There, alcholic ex-boxer Danpei Tange (Teruyuki Kagawa)
notices Joe Yabuki's talents as a boxer. But then, Joe gets into trouble and
is sentenced into the youth detention center. In the youth detention center,
Joe meets pro boxer Toru Rikiishi (Yusuke Iseya) who is a champion caliber boxer.
Joe gets special training from Danpei Tange. Joe quickly becomes an elite
boxer, particularly with a good cross counter. Finally, Toru gets a chance
at the world championship belt. Before that, Toru wants a match with Joe.
The two men enter the ring ...
