Leute für sichere PW's solltet ihr euch KeePass holen, das generiert PW's bis unendliche sicherheit.. mein sicherstes war 3865 BIT
was GANZ WICHTIG bei TC und windows XP ist ist FOLGENDES:
Solltet ihr getrennte Partitionen für Programme haben, z.B. Windows auf C:\ und Programme auf D:\ installiert haben, gibts da ein großes Problem:
TC kann keine 2 partitionen zusammen mounten, d.h. beim booten wird nur die Windowspartition entschlüsselt, die andere bleibt verschlüsselt, und so kann windows die autostartprogramme beim booten nicht laden.. suboptimal für Mainboardtreiber/grafiktreiber/tools/etc, vor allem weil man für jedes fehlgeschlagene Prog-laden nen Error bekommt..
Man muss erst die 2. Partition manuell entschlüsseln bevor es geht..
Daher habe ich windows neu installiert und alles auf C:\ gelassen
is ALLEN nur ans Herz zu legen!

Schön wäre es auch, wenn man in Zukunft Linux-Partitionen (ext2,ext3,Reiser etc) mit Pre-Boot-Auth verschlüsseln könnte, ausserdem wärs toll wenn TC mal nicht abbrechen würde, wenn es nen GRUB im MBR vorfindet sondern den entweder mitverschlüsselt, oder auf eine Partition verschiebt und die Symlinks dann umbiegt......

Note: To encrypt a non-system partition in place, click 'Create Volume' > 'Encrypt a non-system partition' > 'Standard volume' > 'Select Device' > 'Encrypt partition in place' and then follow the instructions in the wizard. Please note that this is not supported on Windows XP/2000/2003 as these versions of Windows do not natively support shrinking of a filesystem (the filesystem needs to be shrunk to make space for the volume header and backup header).
* Support for security tokens and smart cards (for more information, see section Security Tokens and Smart Cards in chapter Keyfiles).
* The TrueCrypt boot loader can be prevented from displaying any texts (by selecting Settings > System Encryption and enabling the option 'Do not show any texts in the pre-boot authentication screen').

Improvements:

* Protection against memory corruption caused by certain inappropriately designed versions of some BIOSes, which prevented the pre-boot authentication component from working properly.

* During the process of creation of a hidden operating system, TrueCrypt now securely erases the entire content of the partition where the original system resides after the hidden system has been created. The user is then prompted to install a new system on the partition and encrypt it using TrueCrypt (thus the decoy system is created).

Note: Although we are not aware of any security issues (connected with decoy systems) affecting the previous versions of TrueCrypt, we have implemented this change to prevent any such undiscovered security issues (if there are any). Otherwise, in the future, a vulnerability might be discovered that could allow an attacker to find out that the TrueCrypt wizard was used in the hidden-system-creation mode (which might indicate the existence of a hidden operating system on the computer) e.g. by analyzing files, such as log files created by Windows, on the partition where the original system (of which the hidden system is a clone) resides. In addition, due to this change, it is no longer required that the paging file is disabled and hibernation prevented when creating a hidden operating system.

Die Verschlüsselungssoftware TrueCrypt ist in einer neuen Version erschienen. Version 7.0 bringt neben den üblichen Bug-Fixes und kleinen Verbesserungen auch neue Fähigkeiten mit.

Zu den neuen Feature gehört beispielsweise die in Hardware beschleunigte Verschlüsselung und Entschlüsselung mit AES. Voraussetzung ist, dass einer der neuen 32-nm-Prozessoren von Intel im System steckt, also die Core-i5-Familie, der Core i7-980X oder die mobilen Varianten als Core i7 oder i5. Die vollständige Liste der unterstützten CPUs kann man hier einsehen.
Als zweite Neuerung hat TrueCrypt die Fähigkeit erlernt, das Hibernation File und die Crash Dumps von Windows zu verschlüsseln. Das gelingt bei den Windows-Versionen Vista und 7, bei XP und dem Server 2003 scheitert es laut TrueCrypt daran, dass Microsoft die betreffenden APIs nicht offenlegt.
Komfortabel ist, dass man ein Volume anweisen kann, sich automatisch zu mounten, wenn sein Datenträger ans System angeschlossen wird. Außerdem können nun auch Partitionen oder Volumes auf Laufwerken erstellt werden, die eine Sektorgröße von 4096, 2048 oder 1024 bytes nutzen (nur Windows und Linux).
Eine Funktion wurde aber auch entfernt: Es ist mit dem neuen Release nicht mehr möglich, device-hosted Volumes auf Floppy-Disketten zu erstellen. File-hosted Volumes, also einen verschlüsselten Container, kann man aber nach wie vor auf Floppys bannen. Die vollständigen Release-Notes finden sich auf der TrueCrypt-Seite.
TrueCrypt gilt als besonders sichere Möglichkeit der Verschlüsselung. Offenbar beißt sich sogar das FBI die Zähne daran aus. Mit Version 6.1 führten wir bereits einen Praxistest durch und haben diese OpenSource- und Freeware-Lösung mit Microsofts BitLocker verglichen. Im Downloadbereich von Tom's Hardware kann TrueCrypt 7.0 heruntergeladen werden.
