[Frage] What do you think about Adult artist turn into Normal Artist.

I dont' know much about how many time this happen.
But when I read Shokugeki no Soma (write by tosh). I think I feel weird... I don't feel hungry or anything. But for this manga maybe it's because of Author not Artist.

I think Hisasi is gone too but I don't know what's he doing right now.

There are quite some character designers and directors working for animes and hentai parallely, just using different pseudonyms. Some studios do as well, just like Studio Arms once did. Nowadays they are doing normal animations only, in former times they did many titles for the Beam Entertainment / Green Bunny label too.

I've been following Tosh through g.e for years, and I'm glad to see him move to bigger things, though I'm not even entirely sure now if he wasn't doing greater things even back then under a different alias. The way Shokugeki presents itself is a perfect match for tosh.
Hisasi has been working on character design for some anime media. I think I've seen him work on a recent anime.

Actually, I saw this one manga that looked really solid. Very unique art-style with obviously big western influences. But there was this one scene where the character designs were so good for the girls that I thought that this guy has to have done this professionally before. And he has, but most of his hobby pages have been wiped clean and you can only find the remnants of them through g.e or sadpanda. The manga is Keyman if you're interested.

I've found a few other artists delving in more mainstream styles, like Inomaru and Distance. Those can be found on manga reading website, and I'll just plug in kissmanga cause they have multipage and that's always nice. And I don't think they even care about licensed shit..

A lot of artists seem to aim to eventually do non porn. It seems to be better paying. Should probably be happy for them to finally "get a real job" I suppose.

I think it is not rare, most of the times they turn in artists for some writer but there are cases like Oh! great (Air Gear, Tenjou Tenge,...) that become good mangakas.

In the case of tosh They continue draw some hentai, only the quality is not so good.

Mmh.. I prefer the hentai artists that I like continuing to draw ero doujin. When it comes to non ero stuff, I actually don't really like fanservice all that much. Seikon no Qwaser is an exception, since the concept is pretty cool. It's fine, if they do both works parallel.

I found some of my favourite artists in regular manga. Then when I went looking to see if they did any more manga or had an artbook, that's when I found out they did lots of lewd hentai stuff. I think it's fine because from what I've seen the artists style is still there, it's not any different other than the fact it isn't explicit.

But then again the artists I'm thinking of still all draw hentai alongside regular manga/character design.

If they can successfully transition into a normal artist then I don't see why they shouldn't make the most of their talents.

i don't really mind,while they would be missed as a adult artist i'd still get to see their art as a normal artist and enjoy a possibly nice story with it.

For many artists hentai is just a starting point to hopefully become mainstream. Tosh is a classical example. Ecchi manga is still considered very niche so to move up to normal is what some artists view as the next step in their career. I would love to see Tosh do adult works again since the art work is so nice, but at least the normal series is still pretty risque.
